Game 1: Match Report
From Marc, FCT Rec Rebels Manager
We turned up for our first league game full of optimism and wee, after several visits to the toilet we managed to get a warm up started and some rondos to get us ready with a 2-3-1 formation we started really brightly causing trouble up top and solid at the back first quarter passed with us the better team looking like we belonged there 0-0. Second quarter we put on our 3 subs and continued the pressure with no real threat towards our goal the quarter passed 0-0. third quarter we looked tired and they were finding gaps which resulted in them scoring 2 goals which was harsh on us 2-0. Last quarter our heads never went down and we got our rewards Wendy’s corner found Shan and she slotted home our first ever league goal. We continued to pressure them and a then it happened another corner from Wendy and this time our skipper Lisa Cooly put it away. The game finished 2-2 but another few minutes we may have taken all 3 points but a great result non the less. Work rate was amazing by everyone on to the next game full of confidence and belief.

Another tournament down and more footballing minutes in the legs. We were drawn in a very difficult group where we did ourselves proud. We narrowly lost each game 1-0 but created chances and played some good football but it just didn’t click this time. We went into the knockout game determined not to lose and we didn’t but not scoring sent the game to penalties which unfortunately resulted in us going out. Great attitude and teamwork today with invaluable experience for the next one

Game 2: Match Report
From Marc, FCT Rec Rebels Manager
We travelled away to Bourne Blades Oranges for our postponed match with only nine in our squad. We started really well and organised and our pressure paid off with a great goal from Abra to get her off the mark for the season and well deserved for all her hard work. The team was so organised and the work rate of every player was the difference between the two teams. They were limited to half chances and we closed the game out comfortably in the end. No one player of the match today as everyone deserved it. Are we top of the league for Christmas ? To be continued.....

Final Score:

FCT Rec Rebels 1 -

Game 3: Match Report
From Marc, FCT Rec Rebels Manager
We travelled over to play Redhill FC with a squad of 9 due to injuries illnesses and unavailability but morale was high after our last win in the league. We started the game well but nerves were showing slightly, after some good play Abra rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home to ease those nerves and everybody relaxed and started to play their game. We dominated play and had a large percentage of possession causing problems and then our second and third goals came through Carly who showed her class calmly slotting away both. The link up play between everyone was exceptional and the work rate meant they couldn’t cope with us with Lisa making a couple of good saves when needed. Us being the fitter team their keeper lost concentration from a speculative shot from Abra and the ball snuck in under her to make it four. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves and Carly added two more taking her tally to four on the day with shouts from redhill of “WHY ARE THEY SO GOOD“. We saw out the game and a comfortable 6-0 win to keep us top of the league. Special mention to the ladies who went in goal and the fans who travelled to support us. Great performance by everyone today three down with three to go. Up the Rebels!

Game 4: Match Report
From Marc, FCT Rec Rebels Manager
Today was our 4th game and our first at home so pressure was on to keep our winning run going. Looking at the warm up of our opponents I knew this was going to be a tough game and so it turned out. With a few players playing in unusual positions to them we started well and a nice one two between Lilly and Lisa saw Lisa slot the ball calmly pass their keeper to ease the nerves and put us in front. They were a strong and organised team so our discipline had to be on top form and it was I think many of the ladies hardest game to date. Everyone dealt well with changing positions but they scored an equaliser with a bit of a mixup at the back letting them score in an empty net. Heads could have gone down but not for the Rec Rebels! Lilly seized on hesitation from their keep with great pressure and composure to score what was the winning goal. We saw out the game for a 2-1 win top of the league with 2 to play. Every one who turned up today played their part all 10 players. We are a team and the whole squad has a part to play let’s stick together and win this league special mention to Nat who was player of the match

Flexi League 7x7 Football Festival in Cobham - Match Report
From Marc, FCT Rec Rebels Manager
Another flexi league tournament down and lots learned from players and coaches which is the perfect outcome. We travelled over with lots of new ladies who haven’t played in tournaments with the team before and they settled in really well not looking out of place at all. With six games to play at 10 minutes per game it was hard to get a rhythm going with everyone playing in different positions, despite this the players dealt with that really well and we drew the first 2 games 0-0. We then came up against a very good team who beat us 2-0 ( they later went on to win the whole tournament) never down beat the ladies drew the next game 0-0. Our 5th game everything came together and we were comfortable 1-0 winners. Our final game was 0-0 and we relied on other results to make the final and unfortunately it didnt go our way. To summarise we learned a lot more about tournament football like using the keepers area to ease the pressure and somethings we need to work on both as players and coaches. The attitude of every player was exemplary from going in goal to smiling when coming off to give everyone some minutes. Looking forward to the next one.
